What age groups do you cater to?

We offer football training and development for players aged 5 to 19 years, with teams grouped according to age and skill level.

Where are you located?

Olympiacos FC Johannesburg is based at the Greek Sporting Club in Senderwood, with training taking place on our indoor and outdoor soccer turfs.

How do I register my child to join the club?

You can register online via our website. Simply complete the player registration form, accept the terms and conditions, and a member of our team will contact you to confirm the next steps.

Are there tryouts or can anyone join?

Within each age group, players are assessed during the early stages of training to determine their skill level and are then placed into teams that best support their development and growth.

What are your training days and times?

Training sessions typically run two to three times a week, depending on the age group. Exact schedules are shared upon registration.

Do you compete in official leagues or tournaments?

Olympiacos FC participates in the Eastern League, offering players regular competitive match experience. Throughout the year, teams also take part in various local tournaments, with select age groups (U10–U13) having the opportunity to compete in international tournaments abroad.

What kit or equipment does my child need?

Players need to wear the official Olympiacos FC training kit, which can be ordered through the club. Soccer boots and shin guards are mandatory.

Is this an official Olympiacos FC club?

Yes! Olympiacos FC Johannesburg is an official franchise of Olympiacos Football Club in Greece, aligned with their standards and training philosophy.

Do you offer goalkeeper training?

Absolutely. We offer specialized goalkeeper training as part of our development program.

Do you offer private coaching or extra lessons?

Yes, one-on-one training sessions are available upon request. This helps players improve specific areas of their game.

How does Olympiacos FC communicate with parents?

Each team has an official WhatsApp group, which serves as the main source of communication for all training schedules, match details, and important updates. The group is managed by the team’s appointed manager, who ensures that all parents receive accurate and timely information regarding their child’s team activities.

What League have we entered in?

Olympiacos is entered into the Eastern League – leagues are split into:

→ League 1 to League 5

As parents can we view the fixtures and tables?

Yes, absolutely – download www.wononwon.com and register and you can view upcoming fixtures and where the team is in the league. Please note that scores are updated by Olympiacos by Sunday evening but if the opposition has not entered the score, it will not reflect – scores only reflect when both teams enter correct result.

Are spectators allowed on the field during practice or during games?

We love the club to be full of spectators and we have stands where the spectators will be seated during practice and games.

Is drinking allowed on the stands?

Olympiacos is situated at The Greek Sporting Club, and we are lucky enough to have the Greek Taverna at our grounds, spectators are welcome to drink inside the restaurant, but no alcohol (as per league rules) is permitted on the stands or near the fields. This applies to all visitors of away matches and when we visit other clubs.

Are players allowed to wear jewelry during practice and games?

The Greek Komboskini bracelet will be permitted but due the safety of the players no other jewelry will be allowed. Please note that coaches or managers have been directed not to keep jewelry or any other items for players.

Who is allowed in the technical area during games?

Coach, manager, physio, club officials and the correct number of substitutes (5) – no spectators are allowed in the technical area. All staff in the technical area would need to have a registration card

Can spectators stand next to or behind the goal Posts?

Spectators are not permitted to stand next to or behind the goal posts during practice or game time. Let’s all enjoy the game from the stands at our grounds or when playing away, the host clubs permitted areas.

What are the Eastern League Rules regarding player movement amongst teams?

At Olympiacos we are passionate about player development, players are registered at Easterns as players, the teams are entered into the respective leagues.

A player from a higher league can drop down to a lower league but will have to remain there for 3 weeks. A player from a lower league can play up at any stage and will not have to remain there for 3 weeks. It is considered cheating if players from higher leagues play games without following the 3-week rule and will be reported to Easterns.

Can a player be in a younger age group if he/she is born at the end of the year?

Please raise any issues with the team manager at practice or via direct message to the team manager. If the query cannot be managed, feel free to escalate any issue to the club management led by Shane MacGregor (Technical Director) and Maria Kyriakides (Head of Football) or failing this to the club Chairman.

How do I get information about games or practice being cancelled due to the weather?

Each age group has a what’s app chat group and all communication will be placed on the group. Each team will have an allocated Manager who will ensure the communication is sent via the group – this group chat is only for Olympiacos information going to parents – please do not raise any issues you may have on this public forum. Any concerns, queries or observations should be addressed via direct message to the team manager.

Can we print our child’s name on his shirt?

·Due to child safety laws Easterns have asked all clubs not to allow printing of children’s names or nicknames on their shirts.

What is the duration of the games?
